FAQs

Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) is identified by the NRT logo and signifies education and training leading to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) recognised qualifications or Statements of Attainment. Where you see the NRT logo displayed alongside a course or unit on this website, it signifies that the training is recognised nationally and accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

Refresher courses are available for some qualifications where it is deemed necessary to keep up to date with current knowledge, rules and regulations or, to practice a particular skill. Often ‘refresher’ courses are expected to be completed on a regular basis such as annually following the completion of a qualification so as to be considered current and are shorter than the original course. You cannot complete a refresher course if you have not already successfully completed the full qualification.

A qualification or licence which was obtained quite some time ago may not be an adequate measure of ability to perform tasks and operate machinery in a manner which is compliant with regulations or site specifications.

For employers wanting to ensure that their employees have the current skills and competency to operate each piece of plant, it is recommended that you utilise a Verification of Competency (VOC) assessment. This method supports safe work practices by having a regular ‘refresher’ conducted.

To be eligible to complete a VOC, the individual must hold a current ticket, licence or unit of competency. This must be produced at the time of enrolment.  If one of these is not held, full training in the relevant unit of competency must be conducted.

Reprints of your Statement of Attainments or CEPUTEC-issued Training Skills Register card can be provided for $20. Please contact the CEPUTEC admin team to organise your reprint.

If you study any Nationally Recognised Training in Australia, you are required to have a USI. Your USI links to an online account that contains all your training records and results (transcripts) that you have completed since 2015.

You can access your USI account online from your computer, tablet or smart phone.

If you do not already have a USI, go to www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi/ on a computer or mobile device.

Note: A USI must be supplied to CEPUTEC during enrolment so that a Nationally Recognised Qualification or Statement of Attainment can be issued to you.

Members of the PPTEU are eligible for fully funded training with CEPUTEC.

Members must be an up-to-date financial member for at least 12 months to be eligible.

Funded training for Members is provided due to the Training Levy that is mandated in your Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).

If you are a current, financial member of the PPTEU and want to undertake a training course that CEPUTEC does not currently offer, you will need to complete a request in writing and submit it to enquiries@ceputec.edu.au for approval prior to enrolment in the course

Immediate family members (wives, husbands, de-facto partners and children) of up-to-date financial members may be eligible for discounted training programs. For many CEPUTEC courses, this means the family members can train for a flat fee of $50. This option may be selected during the online enrolment process and the member’s membership id must be entered at the time.

For training external to that offered directly by CEPUTEC, the member must contact CEPUTEC for approval prior to the family member enrolling in training.
