and Safety Representative (HSR) Initial Training Course<\/p>\n","course_overview":"<p>This WorkSafe approved training course provides Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) and deputy HSRs (DHSR) with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to exercise their powers for the purpose of representing members of their designated work group (DWG) and help make their workplace safer.<\/p>\n<p>All HSRs must undertake WorkSafe Queensland approved training within three months of their election.<\/p>\n<p>HSR\u2019s and deputy HSR\u2019s can ask a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to attend approved courses. The PCBU must give HSRs paid time off to attend a course and pay the course costs and reasonable expenses, within three months of the request.<\/p>\n<p>An HSR can only issue a provisional improvement notice (PIN) if they have attended an approved training course. Training courses are approved under section 21 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.<\/p>\n<p>CEPUTEC (RTO 4612) is an approved HSR training provider.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> <em>HSR training is not intended to train HSRs to be health and safety professionals or to fulfil an employer’s obligations in relation to Work Health and Safety (WHS).<\/em><\/p>\n","learning_outcomes":"<p>The learning objectives of the course are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interpret the work health and safety (WHS) legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR<\/li>\n<li>Identify key parties and their legislative obligations and duties<\/li>\n<li>Establish representation in the workplace<\/li>\n<li>Participate in consultation and issue resolution<\/li>\n<li>Represent designated work group members in any WHS risk management process undertaken by the appropriate duty holder<\/li>\n<li>Issue a provisional improvement notice (PIN) and direct the cessation of work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","entry_requirements":"<p>There are no specific entry requirements or prerequisites for this course.<\/p>\n<p>Although the course is designed for HSRs, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members and anyone with an interest in health and safety could also benefit from attending an HSR training course.<\/p>\n","prerequisites_andor_recognition_of_prior_learning_rpl":"<p>There are no prerequisites for this course.<\/p>\n","course_structure":"Course is delivered face to face at a PICAC campus in both classroom and practical settings. All learning materials will be supplied by CEPUTEC.","course_duration":"The course is delivered each Tuesday for five weeks, making up 35 contact hours.
